The Japanese have viewing festivals and spend lots of time admiring the beautiful light pink clouds of cherry blossoms that dot the landscape this time of year. Today the base closed off the main drag on the east side and opened it's gates for a few hours so that residents and neighbors alike could stroll through the beautiful tunnel of cherry blossoms. Andy was flying all day with the scientists making sure that our air is not radioactive (it's not, btw) so I headed out with my friend Sara (who took the picture of me below). Here's some of the loveliness we saw:
